Chicagofreakboat
For some reason, 2005 has been the summer of Rat Boats in the Rat Patrol. We were all very inspired by the Guerilla Flotilla. Here are some of our zany floating contraptions.
The Cola-Tiki
Rats gathered on the banks of the lovely Chicago River (flow: 60% effluent) for a bouyancy test and a quick jaunt upstream. Matt the Rat brought the Cola-Tiki, his attempt to make a boat from broomsticks, dental floss, and 2-liters:
A good Rat Boat is also a bike trailer, for efficient hauling to the launch site. An even better one can then carry your bike with you downriver.
Hrm, it all worked out on paper... close, very close. Back to the lab. Time to drink more Faygo.
The Ped-ski
Gut a jet ski, build some deck chairs, add a bike and some barrels, and you've got a boat that's slow, unresponsive, and fun!
Yes, you CAN be the urban cyclist version of a bass-boatin' redneck!
The Quadropus
Okay now we're just getting silly.
