The Steampunk World

Being the continued explorations of a living steampunk.

The steampunk world is all around us, lying just out of sight, in a continuous thread of steampunk builders and culture that extends from the Victorian era to the present. You'll find no science fiction here: This is real life steampunk.

I went to get my shots for my trip. So interesting to see fear used as a direct sales tactic rather than indirectly, such as on your evening news. They wanted to sell me about $1500 in shots. “Do you have health insurance?” they asked. “What is this, Canada?” I thought.

So I ended up with the chart of symptoms and prices. “Hmmm…. Rashes, fever… that doesn’t sound so bad… internal organ damage, ooh, don’t want that… dead in a week, I can handle that, dead in a day, ooh, don’t want that…”

If you live in an area where the rivers are used for industry, then you’ve probably noticed that there are two types of bridges- the kind that raise and the kind that are tall enough for a boat to go under. Obviously cars don’t have a problem with this, but in a flat city, the bridges stand out as the only hills. It pissed me off when I realized how they were built for cars and not bikes, after all, why would I want to ride my bike over a boat?
